Move & Explore – The French Alps

Yoga is part of it. Not all of it.

Yoga, hiking, running, white-water rafting & incredible food

For people who find switching off doesn't always mean sitting still.

Yoga, mountains and a little more adventure

IMG_9518.jpeg

Five nights in the French Alps. Daily yoga. Incredible food. Mountain trails, fresh air and plenty of adventure.

Welcome to Move & Explore - The French Alps.

This is a retreat for people who find switching off doesn't necessarily mean sitting still.

Yes, there'll be yoga. But there'll also be mountains to hike, trails to run, rivers to raft and long summer evenings to enjoy.

We've created five days that bring together the things we love most: movement, being outside, really good food, beautiful surroundings and good people to share it all with.

Come with your partner. Come with a friend. Or come on your own.

Yoga is part of it. Not all of it.

The setting

Summer in the French Alps

Our home for five nights puts us right in the heart of one of the most incredible natural playgrounds in Europe.

Think mountain views, warm summer days, trails straight into the landscape and evenings spent outside after a day of actually doing something.

It's the kind of place that makes you want to get up and get outside - whether that's for a morning run, a day in the mountains or simply a walk with nowhere particularly to get to.

And because we'll be there over 14 July, we'll get to experience Bastille Day in the mountains too - summer celebrations, long evenings and fireworks against an Alpine backdrop.

The Yoga

Made for bodies that like to move

Yoga is an important part of the retreat, but it isn't going to dictate the entire day.

Expect a combination of energising Vinyasa Flow alongside slower Yin, Yoga Nidra and meditation, thoughtfully planned around what we're doing rather than competing with it.

After a day hiking, running or rafting, we might slow things down. On another morning, we'll flow before heading outside.

You don't need to be an experienced yogi - and you certainly don't need to be able to touch your toes.

Come to move, breathe, build strength and mobility, and give your body a little of what it needs between adventures.

The food

Properly good food after properly good days

There are few things better than coming back hungry after a day in the mountains and sitting down to food you haven't had to cook yourself.

We'll have a chef on site, taking care of the food so we can concentrate on enjoying it.

Expect fresh, delicious meals, time around the table together and food that fuels everything we're doing without turning the week into a "wellness diet".

Because good food is very much part of the experience.

Get Out There

In the Alps, being active is part of the point.

We'll still leave space to slow down, but we've chosen this location because there is so much to do outside — and we want to make the most of it.

HIKE THE ALPS

Pull on your trainers and head into the mountains.

From easier trails and beautiful viewpoints to longer days out, hiking is one of the best ways to experience the Alps in summer.

RUN THE TRAILS

If you love to run, bring your trainers.

There'll be opportunities to get out onto the trails and experience running somewhere very different from home.

You don't need to be fast and you certainly don't need to be training for anything.

Sometimes running somewhere beautiful is reason enough.

WHITE WATER RAFTING

One of the adventures we're particularly excited about.

Swap the yoga mat for a raft and head out onto the river for something a little more exhilarating.

TAKE TO THE SKY

Want to see the Alps from a completely different angle?

Paragliding is available locally for anyone who fancies adding something memorable to their week.

TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Depending on what's available during our stay, there are plenty of other ways to make the week your own.

Explore more of the mountains, try another activity or simply take yourself off for a few hours.

The point isn't to create an itinerary that keeps you busy from morning until night.

It's to be somewhere incredible and have the opportunity to actually experience it.

You don't have to be a "retreat person"

In fact, we'd quite like this to appeal to people who would never normally consider going on one.

You don't need to be an experienced yogi, trail runner or mountain athlete.

You just need to enjoy moving, being outside and trying things.

Come as a couple and make a holiday of it.

Come with a friend who loves doing the same things you do.

Or come on your own and meet a group of people who probably have quite a lot in common with you already.

You can join everything.

You can skip something.

You can have a slower day when everyone else heads out.

It's still your retreat.
